Peter Rabbit Tablescape
Welcome to my Peter Rabbit tablescape.
This year marks a very special milestone as my youngest son just celebrated his first birthday. In honor of him, I created this tablescape with his birthday cake as the centerpiece.
Hanging just underneath our chandelier is this Spring wreath with pink, purple and white blossoms. I hung large glass egg ornaments tied with ribbon.
Each year I make these panoramic sugar eggs. I've got to do some updating as I've found a better recipe for them that doesn't require any egg whites.
Inside each egg, I used royal icing to create a rainbow, cross and grass with sprinkles. Then added some sugar peep bunnies and eggs. Here's a peek of one of the eggs.
In the other photos, you'll see pastel gingham napkins with a burlap bunny napkin ring. The napkins are from Pier 1 Imports and the napkin rings were 75% off at JoAnns.
Here is a closer look at my centerpiece. Of all the cakes I've made, this was the most labor intensive. This .was my first time creating gumpaste flowers and fondant figurines for a cake.
One last look at the tablescape and cake.
Will be posting on:
Your cake and eggs are so pretty! Congratulations on the first birthday!
ReplyDeleteThank you Marsha!
ReplyDeleteJEN, I am admiring your cake decorating skills and the imagination to create this charming seasonal cake. I love the Peter Rabbit theme and it is especially precious for a one year old's birthday party. I have always loved the sugar eggs for Easter, I have very fond memories of my Dad bringing home one that a friend of the family had made for us. Love the Cracker Barrel plates. This is the first time I have seen the dinner plates... Super cute!! I am getting everything put together to do a Peter the Rabbit table too. I kind of wish I had had it ready to post for today. My Easter parade table is next, I hope to have it ready over the weekend.
ReplyDeleteThank you Candy! I love making sugar eggs every Easter. I give them away as gifts to neighbors. The best part is seeing the kids reaction to them. Usually Cracker Barrel has adorable Easter plates but it seems they have a very limited collection this year :( Maybe they'll bring some back next season! I can't wait to see your Peter Rabbit and Easter parade tablescape!
Deleteomg! you are soooo talented!! i love your tablescape. everybit of it!! i am calling my sister immediately so she can do a wreath UNDER her chandelier! i have been looking for a sugar egg recipe that works...i have the molds and have tried a few times with zero success. those eggs really remind me of my childhood easter basket. i am looking forward to any recipe or info you have. thank you for posting your sweet tablescape and happy birthday to your little one!! p.s. you have a one year old in the house and got all this done? awesome!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I will be posting an updated sugar egg recipe this week. I've been experimenting with a few lately and think I've found the perfect one :) Also, my husband had four days off from work to help me out with the kids. Otherwise the cake would not have been possible to do!
DeleteThis is SO creative and cute!!! Just think...your son will be able to see this years from now and know how much his Mommy thought of him! That's cool!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the cabbage baskets!!! Those are super!!! They really kick each place setting up a notch. Not that they need to be kicked up, because they're terrific...especially with those sweet salad plates and fabulous chargers! The cake is SO creative!!! You did an excellent job! Hard to believe this is your first try with gumpaste flowers! Every little detail - especially the cobblestone pavement! - is perfect!!!
Great job! Happy Birthday to your little boy, and I wish him many more! Have a great weekend! (Visiting from BNOTP)
Thank you Alycia! The cabbage baskets have been on my craft to-do lists for a while. For whatever reason, none of the Michaels stores near me carried the cabbage flowers. Then when I saw cabbage flowers at Michaels this year, I knew it was time!
DeleteOh my gosh!!! That cake is adorable. Love your table and such a great job. Happy Birthday to your little boy. He is one lucky man!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you Cynthia! The cake was a labor of love for my little man.

DeleteThis is a precious tablescape to celebrate a 1st birthday. Your cake is a work of art! I'm impressed that you make the sugar eggs. They were always a very special part of my Easter basket as a child. Magical!
ReplyDeleteThank you Sarah! I love making them every year for Easter!
DeleteI've just discovered your blog and I am in LOVE with all that you create. Your cake you made as your centerpiece is pure fantasy. And your sugar eggs are Beautiful. WOW! You are so talented. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeletelove Annette
Thank you Annette! These cakes are definitely a labor of love. I am in the process of creating another cake for a child through Icing Smiles (an organization where bakers can share their gift with children who have medical conditions on their birthdays!). That post will be coming up soon :)
