A Midsummer Night's Dream
"I know a bank where the wild thyme blows,
Where oxlips and the nodding violet grows,
Quite over-canopied with luscious woodbine,
With sweet musk-roses and with eglantine..."

With sweet musk-roses and with eglantine..."
Oberon describes Queen Titania's bower, where she sleeps.

Today marks the official beginning of summer and is a time of celebration.
As a little girl I was very imaginative and often had dreams of fairies inviting me to their secret spaces in the forest.
Midsummer Eve by Edward Robert Hughes
Midsummer celebrations occur around the world between June 20th - 24th. The Summer Solstice, which usually falls on June 21st every year, marks the longest day of the year. While this day is associated with pagan beliefs it reminds me of a story in the bible when the sun stood still (Joshua 10:13).
I love celebrating the changing of the seasons. If I were to host a Midsummer's eve party this is what would inspire my party planning. I envision an outdoor evening with lots of candles, beautiful flowers, and a chocolate dessert bar. The party wouldn't be complete without a few fairies making their appearance too.
